Albay Arts Foundation held its second Annual Members Assembly on May 20, 2023. This year’s assembly employed both face-to-face and online modalities, allowing for broader participation and greater engagement among its diverse membership. 33 participants, which exceeded the quorum required for voting and decision on any resolution passed by the assembly, attended in person. One trustee along with seven other members joined virtually.

The meeting began with a warm welcome from the out-going President, Rafael Buemia, acknowledging the effort and presence of the members. The assembly then adopted the agenda which covered a range of topics, including the Foundation’s achievements in a year, the president’s report on the status and future plans of the foundation, financial status of AAF, the Board of Trustees election results, and planning activities, projects, and initiatives for the next 12 months.

One highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the newly-elected members of the board. Rafael Buemia and Chris Newhall were re-elected as President and BoT member,  respectively. In addition, Victor Dennis T. Nierva and Lily Malasa were elected as new members of the Board of Trustees, being the two candidates with highest acquired votes to fill up two vacant seats. The result of said election was adopted by Chris Ajero, AAF Vice-President, and seconded by the members.

Another highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the three-year strategic plan prepared and discussed by Cynthia Buiza and Emil Tapnio, respectively. Both board members outlined the importance of building a physical center and expressed their vision for expanding the Foundation’s reach, fostering greater community engagement, engaging educational and cultural institutions and enhancing local and regional cultural landscape.
